This thesis provides the edition of the first book of the Goro d’Arezzo commentary to Lucan’s Pharsalia. The text is based on the Ambrosian manuscript signed H 174 inf and has a critical apparatus for sources, variants and loci critici. The edition is introduced by a preliminary chapter, dedicated to contextualize the author and his commentary, and by a philological chapter, that treats the textual tradition and the relationships between the manuscripts. The text is prefaced also by a section that shows the commentary and his accessus structure and analyses each single part. A personal edition of Goro’s Regule ortographie per alphabetum compilate, useful also to establish the graphical criteria, follows the commentary edition. [edited by Author]
