The object of this thesis is a critical edition of a Byzantine paraphrase to an Anonymous Commentary of Ptolemy’s Tetrabiblos (Anon. in Ptol.). The thesis starts with a historic chapter that describes the role of Ptolemy as astrologer and scientist. The second part offers a study of the manuscript tradition of the Anonymous Commentary, with emphasis in the Byzantine paraphrase of Isaac Argyrus (ca. 1300-1370). This part is followed by a research of monastery of Chora, where Argyrus develops his works. The last chapter of the thesis presents an edition of Argyrus’ paraphrase on Anonymous Commentary, which includes also the edition of a Latin humanistic translation (ca. 1540). [edited by Author]
