The conservation process is iterative and interactive, periodic updates stratify data across multidisciplinary and temporal dimensions. Observation and information processing lead to a contextualized digital representation, where knowledge is encoded and shared. Flow interruptions stem from procedural and instrumental factors. The most delicate transition is from raw data to structured information. The thesis identifies the elements affecting semantic transformations, assesses the maturity of existing technologies, and proposes a methodological–operational approach to ensure continuity of the information flow and the transmission of knowledge. The operational product is a knowledge-based system with a semantic knowledge base on an explicit conceptual model for representing the building’s diachronic evolution. Updates draw on heterogeneous information systems, querying is supported by a prototype multidimensional environment integrated with emulated inference logic. Calabrian heritage, of strong identity and exposed to natural and anthropogenic risks, serves as a case study, with application scenarios exemplified in the experiment on the San Giovannello in Gerace (RC), which tested the workflow for a study and conservation strategy.
Il processo di conservazione è iterativo e interattivo, aggiornamenti periodici stratificano i dati in senso multidisciplinare e temporale. Dall’osservazione e dall’elaborazione delle informazioni si giunge alla rappresentazione digitale contestualizzata, dove la conoscenza è codificata e condivisa. Le interruzioni del flusso derivano da fattori procedurali e limiti strumentali. La transizione più delicata è dal dato grezzo all’informazione strutturata. La tesi individua gli elementi che incidono sulle trasformazioni semantiche, analizza il livello delle tecnologie esistenti e propone un approccio metodologico-operativo per la continuità del flusso informativo e la trasmissione delle conoscenze. Il prodotto strumentale è un knowledge based system con base di conoscenza semantica su modello concettuale esplicito per rappresentare l’evoluzione diacronica dell’edificio. L’aggiornamento avviene da sistemi informativi eterogenei. L’interrogazione è supportata da un ambiente multidimensionale prototipale, integrato con logica d’inferenza emulata. Il patrimonio calabrese, identitario e soggetto a rischi naturali e antropici, costituisce il caso di interesse, con scenari applicativi esemplificati nella sperimentazione sul San Giovannello di Gerace (RC), utile a testare il workflow per una strategia di studio e conservazione.
