The burial crypt of the Church of the Beata Vergine Annunciata, part of the former Ospedale Maggiore (Ca' Granda) in Milan, represents an exceptional case study for investigating complex collective burials. Its outstanding state of preservation, including skeletal remains, mummified soft tissues and associated biological evidence, has enabled a truly multidisciplinary approach integrating archaeology, anthropology, archaeothanatology, archival research and archaeometric analyses. This contribution presents the methodological framework developed for the documentation and interpretation of the site, in which stratigraphy constitutes the organizing principle of the entire research process. Digital Humanities tools, including 3D modelling, GIS-based spatial analyses and digital documentation, are integrated as operational resources supporting the management and interpretation of heterogeneous data while preserving their archaeological context. The proposed documentation system provides a replicable methodological approach for the study of complex funerary contexts characterized by long-term use and highly commingled human remains.
