Abstract

Healthcare systems have been hugely transformed through recent years and individuals’ health tracking has taken continuous interest since it allows people to avoid expensive and time-consuming traditional health monitoring methods such as going to hospital while health symptoms can be traced using wearable sensor for rehabilitation monitoring or breath monitoring, fitness tracking. Regarding continuous and stable human physiological signals, monitoring Smart gadgets such as wearable flexible sensor came to importance and their contribution in economy has increased over years. For this purpose, smart materials that can be integrated into smart devices and are sensitive to outer stimuli are one of the key factors to developing these technologies. Among all, materials with piezoresistive properties are outstanding due to their easy fabrication and data collection along with precisions. In this study simple and straight forward fabrication method is considered to produce scalable and suitable for mass production materials. The fabricated materials have piezoresistive properties, biocompatibility, cost-effective, wearability. The main role play material is graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) which is used as electrically conductive filler that can give piezoresistive properties to the matrix. Polymer materials such as PVDF and PDMS are used as the matrix for nanofiller dispersion because both polymers offer flexibility, biocompatibility and good mechanical and chemical properties. The real-time measurement of the samples demonstrates their strong capability to be integrated into smart devices for healthcare applications by enabling them to collect various distinguishable types of human physical activities such as breathing, walking and joint movements.
