In today's society there is often a need to divest oneself of assets and dispose of one's wealth in advance of one's departure in an attempt to satisfy the interests of one's loved ones and to avoid the onset of future disputes between the beneficiaries of bequests mortis causa. The purpose of this work is to provide an overall view of some of the tools that private individuals can use and to offer, in the concluding part, food for thought "de iure condendo", with the hope of regulatory changes that can modernize the Italian law of succession, in harmony with the emerging needs of society.
