This work presents the critical edition with commentary of Jan Kochanowski's "Elegiarum Libri Quattuor". The commentary is focused on the classical heritage which emerge from the reading of the texts. Although the presence of Propertius is undeniable (as the critics already pointed out), it's evident the substantial presence of Tibullus, Ovid and of greek poets as Pindar and Homer.
