The present research dealt with the analysis of the archaeological, graphic and epigraphic aspects of the inscribed objects from the Orientalizing period in Etruria. The main aim of this work has been, in particular, the evaluation of the inscribed object as a historical source useful for reconstructing certain cultural aspects of the Orientalizing period related to the appearance of writing, such as its circulation and mode of transmission, the function and role of inscribed objects and the features of the producers and recipients of the inscriptions and supports. At the heart of the research is the catalogue, in which the inscribed object is analysed as the product of multiple factors ranging from the intention to create it to its actual realization, with particular attention to the dialectic that is established between the client, the executor of the inscription, the producer of the object and its recipient, who may remain separate figures or may partly or fully identify with each other. At the end of the catalogue follows a series of elaborations on the geographical and chronological attribution of both the inscriptions and the graphic aspects on them, as well as on the typological classification of the inscription texts. These are followed by the actual conclusions regarding the circulation of the inscribed objects in Etruria during the Orientalizing period.

Abstract
These are followed by the actual conclusions regarding the circulation of the inscribed objects in Etruria during the Orientalizing period.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
