The ethnographic study has as its subject the prisoner reentry process, focuses in particularly on the release and end of sentence of prisoner men in Italy and the material, social and psychological everyday life of their reentry paths. Through participant observation and interviews with former prisoners and operators of the prison field, elements of crisis emerge, but also the ability, on the part of individuals and groups, to implement strategies of resistance and survival to widespread oppression, which manifests itself through a general public and scientific indifference about what happens after release from prison; as well as on the daily and situated micro-violences in the field of end-of-sentence. The approach to the analysis is trans-disciplinary and critical; critical criminology and critical psychology offer sensitizing concepts that guide the reading of the phenomenon; likewise, the elements that emerge from the ethnography are integrated and discussed considering the theoretical perspectives considered, in a continuous and circular dialogue typical of the approach of the Grounded Theory. The analysis highlights the importance of maintaining an intersectional gaze, where gender, class and racialization pathways are presented as indispensable elements to the understanding of the phenomenon. The importance of ensuring a "right to reentry" is discussed through the need for a recognition of individual and group experiences and the overcoming institutional abandonment.

Abstract
The importance of ensuring a "right to reentry" is discussed through the need for a recognition of individual and group experiences and the overcoming institutional abandonment.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
